About time we had a newsletter.

Clmbxr has words for you

So, who is Clmbxr?

Founded in 2019 by the versatile Rotimi Odukoya, a man who has worn more professional hats than you have fingers. At the time, he was navigating the world of software engineering.

A young Rotimi before the muscles and a real Barber

However, a seemingly ordinary comment from a colleague about her newfound climbing hobby turned out to be the assist that changed the game—a move reminiscent of Daley Blind's pass to Robin Van Persie's flying-Dutchman-header in the summer of 2014.

This pass from a colleague didn't just mark a casual conversation; it became the catalyst that shaped Rotimi’s trajectory, ultimately birthing Clmbxr (Climb x Rotimi).

Community Spotlight - Nicola Oluwakemi Samuel

How long have you been climbing?

“I first went climbing in summer 2021 but I went sporadically. I got more serious with it when I joined CLMBXR in the summer 2022.“

How did you get into it?

“A good friend I met when I was living in Germany took some of us and I really enjoyed it and when I moved to London I found some bouldering gyms to go to.“

Your favourite Clmbxr moment?

“This is tough, I love all the support we give each other at every session. I always leave feeling fulfilled. If I had to pick a moment, maybe when we did the LCC climbing challenge last winter and went to all the London walls. Was absolutely destroyed afterwards but it was such a fun day.“

What are your climbing goals for this year?

Goal 1. Become a comfortable V4 climber.

“My biggest weakness is my fear of falling and I'm gonna really dedicate time to become more comfortable with that fear. Embrace it almost ahah. I think once I have that, I'm already strong enough to be at that level.“

Goal 2. Flexibility and strength.

“I'm super inflexible, can't even touch my toes, so that's a goal for this year. Also I wanna progress on my bodyweight strength, increase my push ups from 10 to 20, increase pull ups from 5 to 10 and be able to do a tricep dip
